Rwanda Golden Monkey Tracking
After an early breakfast, report at the ORTPN Office for registration and briefing, thereafter drive to the Volcanoes National Park for the Golden Monkeys trekking or Dianne Fossey grave trekking. The Golden monkey is one of the rarest primates in Africa. It is now believed that the only feasible populations of these monkeys are left in the Virunga Volcanoes National park. A lesser populace may exist in the Nyungwe Forest National Park in Southern Rwanda but this has yet to be confirmed. The golden monkey is a dissimilar species of guenon - Cercopithecus Kandti and is prevalent to the Albertine Rift.
Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda (4 Days)
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Meet and greet at the Airport by our safari guide. Depending on arrival time, visit Kigali city which includes the Genocide Memorial at Gisozi.The most important Genocide Memorials are those of Kigali (Gisozi) and Murambi (Gikongoro) where the history of the genocide is explained. A visit to the genocide memorial is for most visitors an emotional event.
Transfer to Kinigi at the foothills of Volcanoes National Park (Kinigi) for dinner and overnight. (L-D)
Day 2: Rwanda Gorilla trekking, Volcanoes National Park Rwanda
After breakfast, depart for the headquarters of the Park where the guide will accomplish the necessary formalities. Meet the ranger guide(s) for a briefing about the greatest animal experience ever. Drive to the slopes of one of the Virunga volcanoes for gorilla trekking.
After the trekking, if time allows, lunch at Ruhengeri and in the afternoon take an excursion to explore the beautiful lakes in the region (Lake Bulera and Ruhondo).
Day 3: Dian Fossey's Grave /Rwanda Golden Monkey tracking
after breakfast, visit of the Dian Fossey grave at (Bisoke) or visit the Golden Monkeys in Nyungwe Forest National park (Virunga). In the afternoon drive to Kigali, overnight at hotel.
Day 4: Kigali city visit and Departure
Pick up from the hotel, and depending on the departure time, there will be a Kigali city trip including the visit of the Genocide Memorial centre at Gizozi. Transfer to the Airport for departure. (B-L)
5 DAYS RWANDA PRIMATES TREK
Day 1: Arrive at Ruhengeri
on arrival at the Kigali Airport; you will be met by our safari guide who will transfer you to Volcanoes National Park after you have had your lunch. The journey to the North goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that display Rwanda’s landscape. Dinner and Overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House
Day 2: Rwanda Gorilla trekking
after breakfast you will drive to the park headquarters of Parc National des Volcans. There you will be briefed by the ranger guides; with packed lunch you will then start the gorilla trekking through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga. Hiking and tracking gorillas may take 1-8 hours. You may have an optional ibyiwacu community walk OR a relaxation at the lodge. Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
you will have breakfast and then drive to Kigali and later head to the Nyungwe Forest National Park, on the way visit the reconstructed King’s Palace at Nyanza, Butare Museums and Murambi Memoral. You will have a lunch stopover at Butare and later proceed to Nyungwe National Park. Dinner and Overnight at Gisakura Guest House
Day 4: Rwanda Chimpanzee tracking
after breakfast, you will drive to Nyungwe Forest at 6:00am to search for chimpanzee. You will also track the colobus monkeys in the forest and this is also a good time for the bird watchers to do their bird watching. Dinner and Overnight at Gisakura Guest House
Day 5: Departure
Depart for Kigali and carry out a city tour including the market visits, handicraft shop visits, pottery projects, genocide museum visit and many others. Transfer to Kigali Airport to find your departure flight.
Track Gorillas Twice. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park 4 Days
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable Forest
Early morning breakfast, drive to south-west of Uganda. You will have stop over at the equator for photographs, and in Mbarara for lunch. The journey will take you through large banana plantations, papyrus woodland, and terraced landscapes of the “Switzerland of Africa”. It takes about 9 hours to reach Bwindi in the late afternoon. You will then go for a walk in the surrounding communities. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla forest Camp / Buhoma community Bandas
Day 2 & 3: Tracking Gorillas in Uganda
Morning breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for briefing before you set off at 8:00 am walk through the tracks to search for the humble giants. You will go with packed lunch because it’s hard to determine how long it will take you to meet these great apes the time ranges between 2-9 hours depending on the movement of the giant primates. After the trek, return for an overnight as above.
Day Four: Transfer to Kampala
In the morning have breakfast to drive back to Kampala. You will have a stop over in Mbarara for lunch to reach in the late afternoon. Transfer to the airport for you departure flight.
